The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires financial institutions (companies that offer consumers financial products or services such as loans, financial or investment advice, or insurance) to explain its information sharing practices and to safeguard sensitive information.

While Galbreath Costner, LLC is not a financial institution, we often act on the behalf of one and as a result, want to notify you of our privacy policies. At Galbreath Costner, LLC, we value privacy and take appropriate measures at all times to protect all confidential and Non-public Personal Information (“NPI”) that we may possess. The type of personal information or NPI we possess varies based on the service we provide. The sensitive information can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Birth date;
  • Social security number;
  • Employment information;
  • Driver’s license number;
  • Loan number, account balance and transaction history; and
  • Credit history

In order to perform real estate settlement services, we often need to share customers’ personal information with certain third parties who have a “need to know.” Examples of these third parties are lenders from whom we are seeking payoff information, homeowner’s association management companies, mortgage service providers and our banking institution. We do not disclose any NPI to anyone other than for the purpose of completing the service that we are providing. GALBREATH COSTNER, LLC DOES NOT SELL ANY LISTS THAT CONTAIN NPI FOR ANY PURPOSE.

We vet all of our employees and certain third party service providers and have enforced policies regarding data access, storage, retention and destruction to ensure the safety of your information electronically and physically. We are happy to answer any of your questions regarding the safeguarding of your NPI.

We may contact you via SMS (text messaging) regarding appointment reminders, document requests, case status updates, or other service-related notifications. By providing your mobile number and opt-ing in, you consent to receive such communications from Galbreath Costner. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent.

We take the same precautions with information shared through SMS as with other forms of communication. We will never request sensitive personal information (such as Social Security numbers or bank account details) via text message, and you should not send such information by SMS. If you receive a suspicious or unexpected text purporting to be from us, please contact our office directly.
